Join us for a day trip from Prague to Kutná Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its impressive history and stunning medieval architecture. Just a short 1-hour drive from the city, this charming town offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and unique attractions.
We’ll start with a visit to the Sedlec Ossuary—the famous “Bone Church.” Here, you’ll see the remains of around 40,000 individuals arranged into intricate designs by woodcarver František Rint. It’s a haunting yet fascinating site that showcases human bones in remarkable ways, including chandeliers and coat-of-arms, all serving as a stark reminder of the past.
Next, we’ll head to St. Barbara’s Cathedral, one of the most iconic Gothic structures in the Czech Republic. This cathedral, dedicated to the patron saint of miners, is a testament to the wealth and importance of Kutná Hora during the silver mining boom. With its stunning architecture and beautiful stained-glass windows, St. Barbara’s offers a peaceful place to reflect on the town’s rich history.
After that, we’ll visit the Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr), once the royal mint of Kutná Hora. This Gothic palace now hosts a museum where you can learn about the town’s minting history and see how Kutná Hora played a key role in Europe’s medieval economy.
As we stroll through the Historic Old Town, you’ll get a feel for the town’s medieval charm. The cobbled streets and beautiful buildings offer a glimpse of what life was like during Kutná Hora’s heyday as a thriving silver-mining center.
We’ll gather together for lunch in a local restaurant, where you can relax and enjoy some delicious Czech cuisine while discussing the sites we’ve seen so far. It’s a great chance to unwind and share thoughts with fellow travelers.
Throughout the day, your guide will share stories and insights about Kutná Hora’s fascinating past, giving you a deeper understanding of the town’s historical and cultural significance. Whether you’re captivated by the eerie beauty of the Sedlec Ossuary or the grandeur of St. Barbara’s Cathedral, this day trip is a chance to explore one of the Czech Republic’s most iconic destinations.

We did a small group Beer Garden Tour with our group of 5 which was outstanding. He was incredibly funny and knowledgeable. A master storyteller which made the trip come to life. Great beer and an amazing lunch. If we had more free time, we would have booked another tour with him in a heartbeat. Any tour. His storytelling was the best.Posted on Wander38575016551Verified Amazing Daragh was amazing! Really made the experience incredible for everyone in our group. Would highly recommend this to anyone travelling to PraguePosted on Susan CVerified Daragh and Bashka were awesome! We took two tours with this company and highly recommend their personable, friendly, attentive guides. First a history tour with Daragh. He was very knowledgeable about Prague history during WWII and Russian occupation. We so enjoyed also learning the subway system! We ended with a great meal, Czech beer and a visit to the park where Lenin’s statue once stood. The next day Bashka did a Jewish History tour with us. She was amazing answering all of our questions, giving us extensive information about the sites we visited, and honoring Prague’s Jewish population. We couldn’t have asked for better guides.Posted on Henk vVerified Fine alternative tour with Darragh. Special tour led by Darragh. Not downtown, but just outside. So first by tram. It was funny that he had bought 10 tickets for the tram for us. Little did he know that senior citizens (and that is us) in Prague travel for free on public transport.Nice business visited and fine burger eaten. The surprise was a live performance at the Jam. Well arranged. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
